Lighting lampe gras is a French term which means "grassy lamp". These are lamps that are designed to use as much natural light as possible and then diffuse it, giving off a soft and diffused light.

The history of lighting lampe gras dates back to the late 18th century when such lamps were used for street lighting. The design was later popularized by Japanese architect Yoshiro Taniguchi in the early 20th century.

As these lamps became more popular, they became more and more decorative with their large size and intricate designs. Today, they can be found in many forms - from floor lamps to table lamps to hanging lights.
