The Flowerpot Lamp is a type of electric lamp with a flowerpot form. It was first developed in the 1920s and became popular in the 1930s.

The idea of using a flowerpot as an electrical lamp was not new. In fact, it had been done before, but never to such an extent as it was by the British company Poulson & Co., who began to produce these lamps in 1923. The company’s founder, Arthur Poulson had been experimenting with electrical lighting for some time and came up with this invention for his own home. The lamps were made from terracotta pots and terracotta saucers, which were then fitted with an electric light bulb socket and a plug socket on top of the saucer lid.

In 1926, Poulson & Co., won the contract to supply all electric lights for Trafalgar Square, London and they expanded their production capacity accordingly at their factory in Wandsworth.
